They're HERE!
Stu's instructional videos from HotLicks have been finally re-released on DVD! They also added a great new feature that lets you play various exercises at various speeds to help build up your skills from going 'stupidly slow' as Stu puts it to ridiculously fast!
You can get the DVD's from TrueFire.com, which is the distributor Stu prefers.

Slap, Tap & Pop

Stuart Hamm is one of the world's greatest bass guitar talents, and this DVD covers an incredibly wide array of styles and techniques. You'll get into left-hand stretching exercises, major and minor arpeggios, playing chords, slapping & popping, funk, hammer-on slaps, triplets, right-hand flamenco strums, two-handed polyphonic tapping, contrapuntal playing, percussive tapping, playing a melody with the right hand while the left hand plays a bass pattern, classical techniques and styles, and Bach's Prelude in C.

Deeper Inside The Bass

Stu's exciting follow-up to his #1-selling Hot Licks DVD, Slap, Pop & Tap for the Bass, takes you further into the creative and technical mastery of this incredible musician. This DVD is packed with valuable instruction, such as hand and finger warm-ups, open-note arpeggios, harmonic scales and chords, false and pinched harmonics, sliding harmonics, popping two notes together, metronome practicing, raking and flamenco techniques, plus exciting solo performances of Stu's compositions. Stu is a true master and perhaps the world's most well-rounded teacher and player of the bass.

* Attention Asia Fans! A note from Stu: "I am really excited to be part of Joe's touring band again! I look forward to seeing alot of my fans around the world. Unfortunatley, I had to cancel/re-schedule many commitments that I had:Clinics in Beijing, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Japan. To my fans and friends in Asia I would like to apologize, but I'll be touring Asia with Joe early next year, and we will re-schedule the clinics.
I am also going to miss teaching the the guitar workshop in Toronto on July 21-22nd, but my good friend Billy Sheehan has agreed to take over!
Thanks Billy!

"They Stu Him, Because They Love Him"

Swept away by the innovations of Larry Graham,
Stanley Clarke, and Jaco Pastorius, he begins to
explore the outer limits of bass technique, trying
out combinations of slaps, pops, taps, slides, and
harmonic chords...
Bass Player, 1991

Hello, and welcome to Count Zero - the only web-site on the Internet, dedicated to Mr. Stuart Hamm! This is the only site that is approved by Stu.

Who the heck is Stu Hamm? - He is quite the bass player. If you have listened to the likes of Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, then chances are you've heard him. He's played with many, many people and bands over the years and is well respected. Chances are you may not have heard his "impossible" bass solos or songs, if this the case, check out the listen section for some mind bloggling clips. A Berklee graduate, a former teacher at the Bass Institute of Technology, and just an all around good guy (who happens to be very good at playing bass guitar!)
