Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do people "BOO" Stu during concerts?

They are not "BOO"ing him, they are actually "STU"ing him. If you yell BOO and STU they sound similar. It is a unique way to tell Stu that you enjoy his work.
Side Note: Satch wanted to see if he could change the fans from cheering "Stuuu!" to "Hamm!" but decided it wouldn't sound as good.

  • Where can I buy Stu's solo albums, I cannot seem to find them in stores.

Unless you get lucky, you will most likely need to purchase his cd's online. I recommended CDNOW. They have decent prices and an amazing inventory.

  • Where can I buy Stu's videos?

You can find them at TrueFire - See the links at http://www.stuarthamm.net/videos.php

  • What are powertabs or gp3 tabs?

Powertabs are tabs that contain both tab and musical notation. The powertab viewer can also perform midi playback of the piece to give you the rhythm.
GP3 are GuitarPro3 files, you need the Guitar Pro software to read them.

  • I downloaded the tab, but I still have NO idea how to play!

You have a couple options - one is to purchase Stu's videos and see him play some of the tunes (or learn the techniques) or wait and we are planning to have a "lessons" section on the site where we will have in depth lessons with pictures and video to help you learn. Currently, we only have one partially done lesson - Linus and Lucy.

  • When is Stu coming to my town?

When we get word of Stu's tour dates (or special appearances) we try to post them on the News section of the site. Usually a post is also made to the forums. Currently, Stu is not on any official tour, but has been making appearances in the San Francisco area.

  • Where can I get tabs for [Some Stu Song]?

You can check the Tabs section of the site. If you do not find it, your best bet is to head over to the forums and ask someone. Or, you could perhaps try to learn it, and write a tab for the rest of us! (If you do, please send it to webmaster@stuarthamm.net and we will post it!

  • Why does Stu stop in the 'Country Music' part of his solo? Did he mess up?

Nope, he stops on purpose. He says something along the lines of "I'm up here working, at least you guys could clap along!" (with smiles the whole way, of course).

  • What is the name of the doctor that helped Stu with his wrist problem?

The Chiropracters' name is Arlo Gordin(Gordon??) and he has treated alot of musicians Billy Sheehan turned me on to him....
